A skilled chiropractor would know how to deal with these situations and make the patient comfortable. Also if there is a long-standing condition, or irregular curves like scoliosis which can cause a build-up of scare tissue and adhesion in the beginning you may experience some soreness and in some instances a short period of increased pain which is indicative of the healing process. The first visit is always the longest so plan to spend at least 40 minutes to an hour. There after the visits are much shorter, but also depends if we are doing decompression or laser therapy, in most cases in and out based on how busy the office is when you come in.

Chiropractic education is like any graduate program, it's long hard, and intensive. A chiropractic student will have to have all his undergraduate work and all their pre-med requirements before going to chiropractic college. At chiropractic college the student will have a class load between 29 to 32 units a quarter all from a variety of subjects from neurology, neuroscience, anatomy and physiology, pediatrics, gynecology, Gi..., just to name a few. People are under the impression chiropractors are not real doctors but to be practicing and licensed doctors we must be trained and tested just like any other doctor. But what we have seen over the years (since 2008 and on) is that insurance companies' co-pays and deductibles are so high most policies will not even get close to the deductable so most patients are cash. Yes, but mostly in children, because a child's body is still growing and then the growth plate has not closed so change is more prominent. As for older people, we do see some changes over time but it's all based on stages of DJD (degenerative joint disease).

Yes, chiropractic care is great for kids, because their bodies respond so fast. Their bodies are very anabolic and there are fewer years of dysfunction so children heal fast. But treating children is very different, because of how the adjustment is delivered. A newborn adjustment is much different than a teenager's. But with all patients, a complete exam and X-rays should be taken to make the proper evaluation and treatment protocol. (We don't X-Ray babies)
